Dreaming of holidays on a rock
The Isle of the former Gulf Pictons, called the Dive Rock, is located in Saint Michel en
l'Herm and dominates the plain from a height of seventeen feet, 250 m wide and 1 km
long.
The view offers a wonderful panorama over the bay of L’Aiguillon, the cliffs north of La
Rochelle, the bridge from the island of Ré ... you'll find a viewpoint, do not forget your
binoculars!
During the festivities of July 14 and August 15, you can attend the fireworks of towns
20kms around.
Furthermore, the rock has kept the remains of a former priory with its Chapel (twelfth
century old), Gothic style, dedicated to St. Hilaire (not visitable). You can enjoy a moment
of meditation in the Hermit's Cave, located at the foot of the rock on the north side.
800 meters away, you can see the sea from the dam of l'Aiguillon and enjoy the pleasures
of the beach only 3 km away.
The “Pointe de l'Aiguillon”, with its dam, its dunes and beaches, offers a particularly
appreciable wild environment for walking and hiking.
This remarkable site delights tourists by the extraordinary spectacle offered each year by
more than 400,000 migratory birds.
In Several restaurants nearby you will enjoy the local cuisine, including seafood
You can use bike paths that can lead you to the Green Venice.
For a holiday in a peaceful and beautiful place, setting foot in the water and taking break
in the country, hearing the birds of passage singing, two farmhouses labeled Gites de France
fully furnished stand ready to welcome you. The owners of the cottages will be pleased to
tell you the story of this rock.
